Care Information Alexander Rose

Teak, roble, mahogany and eucalyptus are tropical hardwoods with a high natural oil content. This makes them weather resistant, and the furniture can be left outside throughout the year.

It’s perfectly normal for them to develop cracks along the grain after they've been exposed to the sun and rain. Over time, hardwoods will weather to a beautiful silvery grey colour. As these are natural timbers, variations in colour and markings will occur from piece to piece.

Hardwoods require only an annual scrub with soapy water, followed by a thorough rinse, to remove algae and air pollution. This restores the surface of the timber.

If you prefer the furniture to look less weathered, it’s possible to restore some of the original colour of the timber through a 3-stage process: applying teak cleaner followed by teak brightener, then finishing off with a sealer or teak oil. RecommendationMake sure the timber is completely dry when you apply teak oil, otherwise it can blacken the timber.

We recommend you use furniture covers, especially over the winter months. They'll help protect your furniture and prolong its life.
